Author Guidelines

  1. General Term

JIFMI: Herbal Medicines journal of Indonesia provides publication facilities for the pharmaceutical sector and herbal medicinal ingredients from various plants from within and outside Indonesia.

All submitted manuscripts are original works and have not been published or are not being considered for publication elsewhere.

  1. How to Submit

Authors must register with the Herbal Medicines Journal of Indonesia (JIFMI) and must ensure the format provided in the template menu. Authors must submit manuscripts electronically using the online journal system through this site.

  1. As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these terms.
    1. The submission has not been previously published or is under publication consideration.
    2. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which are found in About the Journal.
    3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
    4. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
    5. Ethical clearance approval for research using animal or human is needed if the research involves humans or animals in the process.
  1. Typing Format
    1. General Format : manuscript must be minimum 5.000 words typed in A4 size, Times New Roman font. Abstract typed in 1 column written in English and Bahasa Inonesia. Introduction/Pendahuluan, methods/Metode, results and discussion/Hasil dan Pembahasan, conclusion/kesimpulan, and references/daftar pustaka. The length of the full paper should be between 10 to 15 printed pages. File must be in Word Document (.doc) or Rich Text Format (.rtf).
    2. Title : First capital letter of every word, describes main content of work, doesn’t contain formulas. Title typed in Indonesia or in English with 14 pt font size and Times New Roman font Times New Roman font.
    3. Author’s name : full name without academic degrees and title. Manuscript written by groups needs to supplemented by complete contact details. The author name should be accompanied by complete affiliation address, postal code number, telephone number and email address.
    4. Abstract : Abstract in English language should be written only in one paragraph. The abstract in English must be an original translation and not a copy-paste translation of Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia from translator application/software like Google Translator, Rekso Translator, etc since it may result on semantic deviation. The abstract should be less than 200 words. It consists of sentences which at least describing background of study, purpose of writing the article, research methodology, results and findings, and conclusions.
    5. Keywords : enlist 4-8 words or group of words arranged alphabetically.
    6. Introduction : Explaining the background, problems, importance of research, brief literature review that relates directly to research or previous findings that need to be developed, and ended with a paragraph of research purposes. A balance must be kept between the pure and applied aspects of the subject.
    7. Materials and Methods : Materials and methods should include relevant details on the materials and experimental design and techniques so that the experiments can be repeated. Names of products and manufacturers should be included only if alternate sources are deemed unsatisfactory. Novel experimental should be described in detail. If previous researcher method is used, please describe briefly that method and describe in detail if you make any modification to the procedure.
    8. Results and Discussion : These should be presented precisely without discussion of their importance. Do not duplicate information contained in tables and figures. This should directly relate to the results of the study. Do not provide a general review of the topic.
    9. Tables and figures : Well-prepared tables and or figures must be of significant feature tables and figures because they convey the major observations to readers. Any information provided in tables and figures should not be repeated in the text, the text should focus on the importance of the principal findings of the study. It is highly recommended that discussion be focused on the why and how of the research findings can happen and to extend to which the research findings can be applied to other relevant problems.
    10. Conclusion : The main conclusions of the study should be presented in a short Conclusions section, which stands alone. You should explain whether your findings supported your hypothesis. Avoid using references in conclusion section. Conclusion should be withdrawn on the basis of research findings, formulated concerns and research purposes. Conclusion is presented in one paragraph without numerical form of expression.
    11. Acknowledgement : Authors are responsible for obtaining written permission from people acknowledged by name in case readers infer their endorsement of data and conclusions.
    12. References : written by using standard citation application (Mendeley/Endnote/Zotero). American Psychological Association (APA) reference style is required.
